Missing Centralia Woman's Body Found | News
There's a disturbing story unfolding in Washington County, Illinois, in the Nashville area. Authorities are investigating a homicide after a body was found in an isolated part of the county. Detectives aren't releasing many details.
But Washington County Sheriff Charlie Parker tells us the body of an adult was found Wednesday afternoon in some water in a remote area of the county.
An autopsy was performed Thursday afternoon to establish a definite identity and a cause of death. Family members of Lauren Castellari, 27, say investigators told them late Thursday afternoon that the body discovered is Lauren. Castellari had been missing since April 19th.
Her family says she was last seen in the small town of Hoyleton near Nashville, Illinois, at the home of an acquaintance. The family put up fliers of her in Hoyleton last weekend.
Castellari had been living with her mother and father in near Centralia. Hoyleton residents say police have been all over the place - something they're not used to in their normally peaceful town.
"It's very eerie. I don't think anything like this has ever happened here. I'm almost positive of it. And it makes you, I mean before no one really locked their doors. Things have totally changed," said Hoyleton resident Megan Barnett.
Castellari's family says investigators are aggressively working leads in the case. The family is hoping for an arrest soon.
